FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin invited OIC member states to invest in Bangladesh

Md. JashimUddin, President, FBCCI made a presentation at the 1st International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA) conference on 'Intra-OIC Agri-Food Opportunities & Challenges'.
Mr. Uddin said that as the member state of OIC, Bangladesh is actively participating in activities of OIC for peace, prosperity and development in the Muslim world. He highlighted Bangladesh Government’s development strategies and policy support to ensure self-sufficiency in food grain production.
He invited OIC member countries to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh in agro-based & agro-processing, jute & jute goods, flower cultivation, commercial plantation, horticulture, silk, furniture, handicrafts, integrated shrimp cultivation and frozen food etc. sectors.
He added that in light of current pandemic situation there is a need for concerted efforts and collaboration among the OIC states to face the challenges of food security, supply chain, food shortages and price spike. There are immense opportunities for OIC member countries to collaborate with Bangladesh in the areas of mechanization of firm sector, optimizing agri-production cycles (seeds, foods and grains etc.), improving the quality of yield and food products (fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy products), and skill development.
He also emphasized on the development of halal ecosystem through halal standardization, collaboration in halal food processing, halal testing labs and halal certification among OIC countries.
H.E. Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director-General of International Organization of Food Security (IOFS) stressed on the strategic importance of IOFS as G2G parent of International IFPA, its B2B subsidiary in Intra OIC trade.
H.E. Sheikh Bilal Khan, Director-General of International Islamic Food Processing Association (International IFPA) discussed the role of International IFPA in connecting agri-food exporters to importers and investors to agri-food projects in OIC/IOFS markets.
International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA) was established under the auspices of the OIC specialized institution of Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS). International IFPA aims to develop a direct relationship between agricultural businesses in the IOFS Member States by establishing B2B cooperation between private sectors among IOFS countries.
