PSG not going to sign Messi
Paris Saint-Germain have been linked as a potential team for Lionel Messi to join, but it seems as though the Barcelona captain will not be moving to the French capital.
The Parisians do not plan on making a move for Messi, which is a different story to Inter and Manchester City.
MARCA have been able to discover that PSG do not see themselves as one of the teams that could realistically bring in the 33-year-old.
PSG are not willing to pay more eye-watering sums of money, as they did when Neymar and Kylian Mbappe arrived at the club.
The Brazilian and Frenchman are the two players they are building around, so they are instead looking at other targets: a right-back, a centre-back, a midfielder and, if anything, a back-up forward.
There will be a focus on signing players to bolster the squad, as PSG did with Ander Herrera last year, rather than bringing in Messi for a lot of money.
It should not be forgotten that PSG have already paid Inter 50 million euros for Mauro Icardi this summer.
The departures of Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva have brought some breathing room in terms of the club's wage bill, so everything is in order with UEFA in terms of FFP.
However, the money saved will not go towards a superstar, especially as no one is able to measure the true effects of the pandemic on the economy of football in the medium and long term.
Apart from the difficult talk Thomas Tuchel would have trying to fit Mbappe, Messi, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi into his team, the fact is that PSG are not prepared to ruin their peace with UEFA by spending a large sum of money on Messi.
Neymar would love to play with the Argentine again, but even he understands that there is no room for a reunion in Paris.
